Refilling Your Ink Cartridge.

You Can Save even more money on ink if you choose to buy a refilling kit and refill the cartridge yourself. Because you are doing the work yourself you are only paying for the high quality ink. This method is extremely popular for those who love to do things themselves.

How it Works:

You can purchase a inkjet refill kit from one of the reliable inkjet resellers such as Printpal or 4inkjets. These kits contain everything you will need to refill your inkjet cartridge(s). Typically you use a small plastic funnel or syringe and "inkjet" the replacement ink in a small hole in the cartridge. Once you are finished filling the cartridge you cap the hole and you are able to use your printer as normal. While refilling your own cartridge is not difficult it is important that you are careful and make sure to cover any surface you are working on. Sometime a small amount of excess ink can leak out and you do not want this to spill on a surface or carpet.

Tips:

Make sure to always fill the cartridge to the recommended levels. Though it may seem like a good idea to get a little extra ink in there the cartridges were originally designed to only hold so much ink and over filling them may make the cartridge malfunction or print incorrectly.

Always use your cleaning cycle or utility before printing with are filled cartridge. Often a small amount of ink can dry in the nozzle or cartridge print head and clog these mechanisms. A cleaning cycle or two should eliminate this problem.

If Ink is leaking from your cartridge it is likely that it was slightly overfilled. Use the included syringe to siphon a small amount of ink off and wipe the excess ink on the cartridge with a lint free tissue or cloth.
